Jordan Thompson defeated Taylor Fritz to advance to the semifinals of the Queen's Club Championships.
The 30-year-old entered the tournament without having won a match since April. Since then he has beaten Holger Rune in a tough 3-setter, Andy Murray after he retired due to a back-injury, and Taylor Fritz in straight sets. "To come through the semis is really pleasing, especially as I've had a rough run lately," he said, "so glad to turn it around on the grass"
Thompson will be competing in the first ATP 500 semifinal of his career at the age of 30. "It goes to show if you stick at it long enough you can keep improving no matter how old you are" he said, "I feel like I'm getting better."
In the semifinals, Thompson will face Italy's Lorenzo Musetti in the semis, who defeated Billy Harris earlier today. Musetti leads their head-to-head 1-0 and has been performing well on grass this season so far. He recently secured his first top-10 win on grass against world No. 7, Alex De Minaur.
On the other side of the draw, Jack Draper and Tommy Paul will be competing in what promises to be an exciting match. Draper is coming off the biggest win of his career over Carlos Alcaraz, and Tommy Paul is yet to drop a set in this tournament.
